G-LED System - High Performance LED UV curing Systems

This technology is used to cure inks and coatings with UV light, offering significant potential for the printing and coating industry. Giardina Graphic provides a range of LED UV curing systems for a variety of different requirements. In addition to conventional UV systems, the Giardina Graphic product range also includes a selection of LED UV curing systems for a number of industrial solutions.  What makes Giardina Graphic stand out is the delivery and integration of complete systems that are ready for operation. LED reactive chemicals are required in order to use LED technology. These LED inks and coatings can be cured in a fraction of a second but must always be tailored to the substrate in question. The compact design of the G-LED modules used makes it possible for them to be installed in a variety of machines. Once the technical requirements have been met, the G-LED curing systems offer a range of advantages compared with classic UV lamp technology. UV LED technology boasts a number of core properties, such as that it is environmentally friendly, energy saving and ready for immediate use. The G-LED modules also transmit only a small amount of heat to the substrate, enabling high quality processing even for heat sensitive substrates. The compact G-LED modules feature a particularly long service life. The G-LED systems are effective for the curing of LED inks and coatings in the following printing machines: SHEETFED OFFSET, WIDE WEB FLEXO, NARROW WEB FLEXO, METAL DECORATING OFFSET, INK-JET, SILK-SCREEN, SPECIAL.

DQ - High power (200 W/cm) air-fluid cooled UV curing system

The new dichroic reflectors mod. DQ by Giardina Graphic have been purposely designed to dry heat-sensitive UV products by assuring high production speeds and low temperatures when printing. They are realized in special aluminium extrusions and can be installed both on C.I. drum and on stack machines.
The vacuum created by cooling fans as well as the forced circulation cooling fluid and the antireflection protection guards assure low operation temperatures and absolute safety to operators as well as safeguard of the work place.
The rotation of reflectors is synchronized with printing machine and allows its stops without putting out lamps which automatically function at reduced power.
Reflectors are easily removable both for web insertion and for maintenance.
Special quartz inserts duly treated with dielectric material multilayer deposit are interposed in order to obtain a very good UV ray reflection and a considerable infrared radiation reduction.
The reflectors mod. DQ are predisposed to be used under inert atmosphere and can be supplied with specific powers up to 200 W/cm and 2000 mm. arc.

DQ-INERT and DQ1-INERT - Air/fluid cooled UV curing inert systems

Atmospheric oxygen reduces the effectiveness of UV curing in some inks and coatings.
The inert gas curing system can be used to overcome this problem. Inert gas (usually nitrogen gas) is used to purge the polymerisation chamber of oxygen, thereby greatly increasing the production speeds of the machines.
The inert gas curing system is applicable to the DQ and DQ1 series reflectors, which can be supplied with specific wattages up to 240 W/cm and a light arc of 2,500 mm.

The advantages of inert gas curing:
  • Allows curing of low migration inks for food quality applications
  • Improves the cure rate of all free radical inks
  • Enables curing of free radical silicone coatings
  • Reduces ink odour
Technical features:
  • "Laminar barrier" system for uniform introduction of nitrogen into the curing chamber
  • Oxygen analyser through a special sensor located inside the curing chamber to monitor oxygen concentration in parts per million (ppm). The operator can set the desired maximum oxygen level and the system automatically adjusts the nitrogen input flow for better curing.
  • Control and monitoring touchscreen for the entire process. The HMI displays real-time oxygen levels for each lamp, along with any related alerts and alarms.

GT-IR System

Giardina Graphic manufactures infrared drying systems that can be used in various printing processes as well as in many industrial applications such as reactivation and thermoforming.
The components used to manufacture the IR systems are of the highest quality, guaranteeing high efficiency, long life and constant performance capability over time.
Depending on the drying requirements, the IR systems are supplied with different wavelengths (short, medium-fast, long ) which will provide the right amount of energy needed for evaporation of the aqueous component present in the product to be dried in relation to the printing speed, the amount of product applied and the substrate to print on.
