The robust and cross-linkable three-knife trimmer POLAR BC 330 is the latest development for the automatic trimming of perfect-bound or saddle-stitched products (e.g. books) and, in contrast to other three-knife trimmers, operates with only one knife.

The POLAR CuttingSystem PACE 300 automates the processes of finishing unprinted or prepared materials.

  • POLAR Autoturn rotary gripper automates the turning of undivided cutting layers in the high-speed cutter

The workflow:

The material to be cut is automatically loaded from the stack onto the Transomat pallet by the Transomat TR 3 BL and pulled onto the rear table of the high-speed cutter by the "Autotrans" gripper transport system.
The Autoturn rotary gripper with automatic feeder is the core element of the PACE cutting system. By means of the gripper system, the cutting layer is rotated on the rear table either to the right or to the left by 90 or 180 degrees and positioned with an automatic feeder. The cut is also triggered automatically. Unseparated cutting layers can thus be cut unmanned. If more cuts are required, the operator must manually rotate the individual panels during further processing of the cutting job.

The prerequisite for this highly automated cutting system PACE is a POLAR high-speed cutter Autotrim for automatic removal of the cutting waste.
The unloading Transomat facilitates the unloading of the high-speed cutter and optimizes the entire work flow. The intermediate or end products are manually pushed onto the transport pallet of the Transomat and then automatically and precisely deposited on a pallet.

POLAR LabelSystem SC-20

Ideal for the entry into industrial cutting label production

In the LabelSystem SC-20, the POLAR 137 Autotrim M automatic cutter is the core component for the economical production of cut labels. Since both strips and panels are cut in the POLAR 137 Autotrim M automatic cutter, neither a precutting machine nor a feed table is necessary. The label material must be available as a jogged layer.

Workflow:
The material is fed either manually via the front table or automatically via the rear table. First the material is cut into strips by the operator. These are then positioned in the automatic cutter and laterally aligned on the rear table before cutting. The individual panels are then cut automatically.
After cutting, the blanks are aligned on the front table and transported into the BM-105 multi-pocket bundler by means of an ejector. The bundle pusher then pushes the complete row of blanks into the banding device. The finished bundles are pushed further onto the delivery table and can be removed manually for packing.

Efficient for the industrial production of cut labels

The POLAR LabelSystem SC-21 has the highest productivity in the production of cut labels due to its parallel production steps. First, the label material is cut into strips inline or offline in a POLAR high-speed cutter. Further processing is carried out on the automatic cutter POLAR Autocut 115, the core component in the LabelSystem SC-21.

Workflow:
The pre-cut strips are manually positioned on the POLAR LT-S loading table and then pushed onto the Autocut rear table. In the Autocut 115, the strips are aligned laterally and from the front before being cut on the rear table.
After cutting, the blanks are automatically aligned on the front table and transported into the BM-105 multi-pocket bundler by an ejector. The POLAR LabelSystem SC-25 features the highest productivity and cutting accuracy. By processing two strips simultaneously, new performance dimensions of up to 1,560 bundled packages in 60 minutes are achieved. It is specially designed for the industrial production of very small labels and has a modular structure. First, the label material is cut into strips inline or offline in a POLAR high-speed cutter. Further processing takes place in the POLAR Autocut 25 automatic cutter, the core component in the LabelSystem SC-25.

Workflow:
The pre-cut strips are positioned manually on the LT-S and then pushed onto the Autocut rear table. In the Autocut, the strips are aligned laterally and from the front before being cut on the rear table. Two strips are cut at a time.
After cutting, the two labels are transported via a rocker into the BSduo bundler. First, the two labels are separated, then pushed through the banding material by the inserter and finally welded together in a stable manner. The banded blanks reach the material delivery via special guides, which guarantee a gentle material transport, and can be removed there for packaging.

POLAR Die-Cutter DC-M

Solo die cutter for small to medium runs in highest quality with manual loading

The POLAR DC-M solo die-cutter is characterized by maximum flexibility, simple operation, maximum die-cutting accuracy and wide format variability.

Workflow: First, the material to be die cut is pre-cut into stacks of labels in a high-speed cutter.The pre-cut stack of labels is then manually placed in the insertion shaft, automatically guided in front of the punch and pressed through the die by the punch (piercing principle). This gives the label its predefined shape. The die-cut end products are accurately positioned on the packaging table via an output chute.

POLAR LabelSystem DCC-M

Solo die cutter using the counterpressure principle for compressible materials in short to medium runs

In addition to its high flexibility, simple operation and punching accuracy, the POLAR LabelSystem DCC-M is particularly suitable for processing compressible plastic materials such as OPP films for in-mould.

Workflow:
First, the material to be punched is pre-cut to a stack of blanks in a high-speed cutter. Then the pre-cut blank stack is manually placed in the insertion chute.
As soon as the light grid of the delivery chute is free, the inserted blank is automatically transported into the punching area by two gripper fingers. An integrated device lifts the pile to prevent the bottom sheet from getting stuck. The counter-pressure punch, the exact counterpart to the die-cutter, moves through the die-cutter and presses the stack of blanks. The stack is fixed on all four sides.
Subsequently, the pressed stack is pushed through the punch by the punching punch and receives its predetermined shape. The stack is pressed out of the die cutter again by the counter-pressure punch and transported to the delivery via a shuttle.

POLAR LabelSystem DC-11 is designed for highly automated inline production of bundled die-cut labels. The menu-guided setup of the system facilitates operation and reduces setup times.

Workflow:
First, the label material is pre-cut inline or offline as strips with a POLAR high-speed cutter. The POLAR Autocut 25 automatic cutter then takes over the strips and cuts them into label packs. An ejector on the front table of the Autocut 25 transports the pack of panels to the DC system die cutter.
After punching, the bundles of panels are automatically pushed to the BD single panel bundler and bundled. The ultrasonic welding unit in the BD requires no preheating, is always ready for use, is gentle on the material and causes no odour nuisance.

OptiChange simplifies operation and shortens set-up times. A job change is done in 15 minutes. Aligning the stack on all four sides and pressing the stack before the actual die-cutting process ensures maximum die-cutting accuracy.

Workflow:
First, the label material is precut as strips inline or offline with a POLAR high-speed cutter. The final cutting of the strips into label packs takes place on the POLAR Autocut 25 automatic cutter. The ejector on the front table of the Autocut 25 transports the label pack to the DCC system die cutter. After die-cutting, the panel packs are automatically pushed into the banding unit and bundled individually (optionally as a bar).

Compucut

Intelligent data exchange between prepress and postpress

For more than 30 years, Compucut® has allowed cutting programs to be created outside the high-speed cutter. This completely eliminates programming times at the machine.

The POLAR software Compucut® is available in three versions:

Compucut® GO is a simple automation solution to fully automatically create cutting programs from CIP files according to a fixed cutting sequence and transfer them to a cutting machine. Go runs directly on a USB stick and is not installed on the PC. It is possible to process homogeneous shapes as well as collective shapes.

Compucut® CONTROL, on the other hand, offers the full range of software functions with real image display and the option of modifying the sheets manually. For example, the data can still be adapted to the intended processing (folding, perfect binding or saddle stitching). Cuts can be integrated or eliminated. The cutting programs are created outside the high-speed cutter on the PC and then sent either to the machine or to the External Cutting Program Management (ESPV), which can be accessed by any cutting machine integrated in the network.

Compucut® AUTO-CONTROL offers the same scope as CONTROL. In addition, it can create cutting programs completely automatically, i.e. without any manual intervention. The optimal cutting sequence with the fewest turns and cuts is automatically created by the software. Operating errors are thus completely eliminated. As with CONTROL, the finished cutting programs are sent either directly to the machine or to the ESPV.
